Just an observation! Why do drivers when parking in waiting bays such as Asda Warrington, not park next to another truck when there is a few empty bays? They leave a space so does the next and the next, making it harder for the next ones to arrive. 🤷‍♂️ Why not just park in line, then nobody is struggling.
Just my opinion.

Hi Guys, first time posting so please excuse me if i don't do this right.

First of all, i am a driver and a newly qualified transport manager so i feel as if i should know this but for some reason i just cannot get my head around it.

So here it goes..

I had a driver drive about 3:30 hours away to do a drop, whilst he was there he took a 45 minute break, as he did not have enough driving hours to get back. Which is obviously all good and makes sense.

So this driver gets back, and he has driven just a little over 5 hours in total so far.

He then decided that he needs to take another 45 minutes break as he didn't have enough driving hours left to go and do another local drop.

this is where i get confused, because i just don't understand why he decided to take a 45 minute break, in my opinion if anything he should be taking a 30 minute break as he did not driver a total of 4:30 bours in total in neither trip..

what keeps confusing me is which i cant find the answer for is, if...

Left the yard on 90%. Widnes to Preston Brook, grab empty trailer then pick up a load from Pickering.
By the time I got over thelwall the gas level had dropped to 80. Got to Pickering on 55%.
Left Pickering with a load on and the level starts to drop pretty quickly and it starts playing on your mind, because running out of fuel is not an option.
1. You’d look a massive tit.
2. There’s hardly anywhere to fuel these things up and it’s not a case of just throwing a few litres in to get you to the next filling station.
Has anyone ever actually ran out of gas in one of these things?
I’m just curious what happens.

So I've been driving for almost a year now and I'm fed up of doing 50-60 hour weeks when my contract is only 48. Can I say something about it or is it just something I have to put up with? We get a late payment of £20 for anything over 11 hours, but it's not the money I care about, it's time at home (which I'm not getting). Are all companies like that?

The key thing is how to record. I require the driver to input via VU manually before driving, but driver always forget or refuse.

I have been in the tipper game nearly 40 year's I know it is bad at the moment but we are not helping ourselves. If there is so little work then why are there posts on here looking for haulage? it's because they want you to do it for silly rates hold you're nerve and they will have to pay. Those of you paying close to 200k for new trucks why? are you walking around with you're eyes shut have you not seen the cancelled orders, these are all 8x4 chassis some with steel body's some with alloy some chassis cab only different makes 5 in Warrington 15 in Liverpool 10 in Manchester and another 10 in Wigan these are just what I know of in my area. There is a haulage and aggregate supplier looking for haulage to a job on the Wirral the rates they are offering are worse than what we were getting 15 year ago, went to a site next door on Friday men and machines parked up because they cant get stone let the supplier put his own trucks on it or the customer will have to pay proper rates to someone...

Our company has now installed the cameras on the front and passenger side of all our trucks to warn us of pedestrians, which is a great safety feature but when they are that sensitive they pick up traffic cones. So imagine you get stuck in roadworks and all you can hear for miles and miles is PEDESTRIAN LEFT PEDESTRIAN LEFT. We’ve found a great solution to this problem by putting tape over the cameras but apparently it’s a whopping great fine if caught. Surely there is a loophole if caught by DVSA.

Hey all! A question for you - My friend has brought a 7.5t truck (to move his furniture and leave there) and has asked me to drive it over to Portugal. There is a Tacho fitted and I will be driving for no reward. Would I need to use a Tacho card?? (I do have one which I use daily as a HGV driver)

I have a question.
A new driver who started his first week where I work has his last shift on a 6 today that rolls from today into tomorrow. I think she should be done by 12.
They asked him to work Sunday night at 11pm.
He told them he can’t because he wouldn’t have a full day off. Even thou he would have 33hrs off.
Her argument is he would be working every day.
Monday to Sunday even thou he would have 33hrs off between midday Saturday and rolling into Sunday night.
She reckons the company is breaking the law. Who’s right?
Ps I wasn’t getting involved.

Just failed my transport manager CPC multiple choice why doesn’t it tell you how many you got right on the exam all it said was 60 questions you need 42 right to pass.

Since becoming TM, all our drivers have completed online courses at our office but still recorded their day in the vehicle they usually drive. One of the drivers has decided to go to a classroom for his CPC course, i assume this would still need to be recorded with manual entries when he comes to work the following day?

I don't know if anyone else has problems with this absolute jobsworth! But I'm sick of him harassing me every time I'm in oxford! Picking my pax up in the coach bays outside of Ashmolean which state no stopping 8am-6:30pm except buses. He says he has a business license he rang the police and they didn't even bother to get out of the car. He has been taking pictures of me and my vehicle, ringing my work place, ringing the police and ringing the council. I'm reporting him to the police myself on a harassment basis, I will be reporting his business to the authorities and when I next see him I will not be moving my vehicle.

Just had my 1st experience driving a 21 plate Actros with mirrors
I currently where glasses for long sighted
I found the passenger side OK to use but struggled with the drivers side
Feels to close my face and I find it distracting as I feel my drawn to it
I find normal mirrors are better as if say your driving a straight road and plodding along it's easy to glance in your mirror every now and then
But these are horrendous
Feel like a tv screen flickering in the corner of my eye
I found they are OK ish for reversing

Another location where the rules don’t apply to some drivers 20 minutes drop off only, except if you put a sign in the window saying your on legal break so I assume he’s having a day off parked up!
Question why he couldn’t make it 2 minutes up the road to the coach park we’ll never know!
