Hi Guys, first time posting so please excuse me if i don't do this right.

First of all, i am a driver and a newly qualified transport manager so i feel as if i should know this but for some reason i just cannot get my head around it.

So here it goes..

I had a driver drive about 3:30 hours away to do a drop, whilst he was there he took a 45 minute break, as he did not have enough driving hours to get back. Which is obviously all good and makes sense.

So this driver gets back, and he has driven just a little over 5 hours in total so far.

He then decided that he needs to take another 45 minutes break as he didn't have enough driving hours left to go and do another local drop.

this is where i get confused, because i just don't understand why he decided to take a 45 minute break, in my opinion if anything he should be taking a 30 minute break as he did not driver a total of 4:30 bours in total in neither trip..

what keeps confusing me is which i cant find the answer for is, if...

Our company has now installed the cameras on the front and passenger side of all our trucks to warn us of pedestrians, which is a great safety feature but when they are that sensitive they pick up traffic cones. So imagine you get stuck in roadworks and all you can hear for miles and miles is PEDESTRIAN LEFT PEDESTRIAN LEFT. We’ve found a great solution to this problem by putting tape over the cameras but apparently it’s a whopping great fine if caught. Surely there is a loophole if caught by DVSA.

Hey all! A question for you - My friend has brought a 7.5t truck (to move his furniture and leave there) and has asked me to drive it over to Portugal. There is a Tacho fitted and I will be driving for no reward. Would I need to use a Tacho card?? (I do have one which I use daily as a HGV driver)

I have a question.
A new driver who started his first week where I work has his last shift on a 6 today that rolls from today into tomorrow. I think she should be done by 12.
They asked him to work Sunday night at 11pm.
He told them he can’t because he wouldn’t have a full day off. Even thou he would have 33hrs off.
Her argument is he would be working every day.
Monday to Sunday even thou he would have 33hrs off between midday Saturday and rolling into Sunday night.
She reckons the company is breaking the law. Who’s right?
Ps I wasn’t getting involved.

Hi everyone, my sat nav has stopped working I've been looking for a replacement is this model still available or is it called something else nowadays.

Just failed my transport manager CPC multiple choice why doesn’t it tell you how many you got right on the exam all it said was 60 questions you need 42 right to pass.

Since becoming TM, all our drivers have completed online courses at our office but still recorded their day in the vehicle they usually drive. One of the drivers has decided to go to a classroom for his CPC course, i assume this would still need to be recorded with manual entries when he comes to work the following day?

I don't know if anyone else has problems with this absolute jobsworth! But I'm sick of him harassing me every time I'm in oxford! Picking my pax up in the coach bays outside of Ashmolean which state no stopping 8am-6:30pm except buses. He says he has a business license he rang the police and they didn't even bother to get out of the car. He has been taking pictures of me and my vehicle, ringing my work place, ringing the police and ringing the council. I'm reporting him to the police myself on a harassment basis, I will be reporting his business to the authorities and when I next see him I will not be moving my vehicle.

Just had my 1st experience driving a 21 plate Actros with mirrors
I currently where glasses for long sighted
I found the passenger side OK to use but struggled with the drivers side
Feels to close my face and I find it distracting as I feel my drawn to it
I find normal mirrors are better as if say your driving a straight road and plodding along it's easy to glance in your mirror every now and then
But these are horrendous
Feel like a tv screen flickering in the corner of my eye
I found they are OK ish for reversing

Another location where the rules don’t apply to some drivers 20 minutes drop off only, except if you put a sign in the window saying your on legal break so I assume he’s having a day off parked up!
Question why he couldn’t make it 2 minutes up the road to the coach park we’ll never know!

Anyone noticed what happens when you stick together in say er, a union. Unlike us who care about big fast, covered in chrome trucks. Train drivers: £ 69000 PA + overtime.

One of our drivers got an infringement for only taking 44 minutes of the required 45 minutes break, however he has questioned why the vehicle unit did not display any warnings/instructions regarding this when he started driving again, would this be an issue with vehicle unit that i would need to get it looked into or would it not have displayed anything because it was under 1 minute? The driver is very trustworthy so i believe what he has told me.

Opinion?? 15 pax and same luggage and 12 kayaks.. They ordered a 30 seater so they could get everything in.. The company sends a 16 seater and a tiny trailer.. Ended up getting 8 kayaks in the bus.. They took nearly an hour to load.. The rest of the kayaks will.. Have to be collected later.. oops!! 😬

Coach defect pop quiz anyone? Would you drive on this with a 400 mile day planned? (that included driving on farmers tracks & fields - not that I think that would make a difference)

I currently have been driving class 1 now for a year with a good company who’s helped me a lot as a new driver can’t fault them, and as much as I enjoy my job I can’t help but think to myself what it would be like to get into the heavy haulage crack of things. But not got an idea on how to do this. It’s not something I’m looking to do straight away it’s more of a 5 year plan thing. My question is how do I go about getting into it? Or do I just apply for a job at a heavy haulage?

Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card at the end of each shift when you are tramping!
I told him I leave mine in and do a manual entry for end country, but he was having none of it, I was in the wrong and should remove it. 🤷‍♂️

I’m looking for a bit of advice please.
We have 6 drivers who invoice us through their limited company.
I’ve recently completed my Transport Managers CPC course and the tutor said that this is no longer allowed and have to be either PAYE or through an agency.
I have checked online and there is some information about this from 2021-22 saying that it’s only companies that have a net turnover of more than £10 million or employ over 50 staff who can no longer use drivers who invoice through their own limited company.
Is this correct?
Any help/advice would be great.

So Is it ok to drop ya toilet in Windsor coach park? 🤨 I think not. I dropped mine at Pulham coaches bourton on the water £10 pls all share toilet drops so this doesn’t happen. 👍
