I see the figure £350 been quoted for an ETM looking after one wagon, seems to be going rate. Alot of wages are going up at the moment within the industry. I understand that a ETM is self employed and could charge what ever they want. Buy the time you've paid your insurance, travelling expenses, and tax, is 350 worth it? Would £500 for the first wagon be a big ask?

Hello, There seem to be lots of ex Bus/Coach drivers in the Hgv industry. I'm interested to know why they change over, I always fancied Bus driving, I regret never giving it a go before going onto trucks.

So we've been given the New Daf to try for a week, it's the XG.
What are your thoughts on this motor?
I'm not that keen on it to be honest, yes it has some nice perks but it has a lot of things I don't like, no 24v socket, windows don't go all the way down, sat nav only works off your phone, draining data and battery, I hate the camera mirror.
Plus side is the bed is amazing and the space in the cab great, although cupboard space is limited.
I'm quite happy with my old XF, it's my home.
Let me know your thoughts.

Morning, Just found out I’m doing my reverse test tomorrow morning and only had 4 hours training on it, full right lock till you see the tape line and full left lock is all I know and was quite good at it by the end but not sure if I’d be hitting the offside yellow line.

Any tips?
Also any tips on where I should be when I start the manoeuvre?
Can I dry steer?
Do I have to do mirror checks before moving off?
Can I come to a stop at any point while reversing?
When coupling, if I get out and find I’m not lined up and have to re-align, is that a minor?
Anything that could get me a major while doing walk around check before coupling?
Do I need to wear safety boots to pass?

I was told I would be doing some reversing today as well but did not do any, just on road so not had chance to ask these questions or review as I also didn’t know my test was tomorrow morning, I thought I’d have the morning to practice then have a test.

Could someone please shed a little more little light on this subject, in regards to what the purpose of the system is and also what information needs to be gathered and documented.

Honest opinions please on this, small operation, been going 10 years, never had any need to enquire about factoring until now, a bad run of mechanical issues on trucks while trying to update them has left cashflow non existent and business under pressure, bank is not really interested, so looking at independent finance company for factoring/discounting to help us get on our feet again. Hi guys, a bit of help understanding the 6 hour rule.

Say I start at 6am
6am start
10am 15 min break this covers till 12pm
2pm 30 min break this covers till 6pm
If I want to go over 12 hours I need to take another 15 after 3pm but before 6pm to cover me till 9pm
Is this right?

I am currently an internal TM and sole TM with the help of 10 OLAT trained employees, 1 at each of our depots and my directors have asked me to provide them information of what would happen if I went on long term sick. I know the rules and regs etc and what is required legally but would like to know what the cost of an external TM would be please?

30 HGV’s over 2 ‘O’ licences with 10 operating centres in total. Both licences at under 2.0 on OCRS. Based in Lincolnshire. Hello, Just got a couple questions as my dream goal is to eventually become an Owner Operator.
I would just like to know, how bad actually is it? the few people I have spoke to about it say its not worth the stress or hassle etc.
I cant find anywhere online to get a rough idea of what you can earn or how to go about it.
If anyone has the time, I would just like to find out more about it, to know if I should give up on this dream of mine or if its actually possible.
Will only be running 1 truck which I will just be mine, but would love to be able to do it all up like I see at the truck shows.

Going up the A1 yesterday, just north of Doncaster but before you get to the M62 turn off there's road works and it goes down to 1 lane on both carriageways.
In the highway code it states merge in turn (like a Zip).
Why do some lorry and coach drivers hang back in lane 2 creating a longer tailback?
There's possibly a reason and I'm willing to learn it.
