Surely a road sweeper is plant machinery rather than a goods vehicle.

Firstly, and most importantly, it depends on the quality of your application.
If you are a GENUINE applicant and you supply ALL the information required in the correct order it will greatly help to move your application through the process.

I do have a lot of my own work but always had 30 days most my work is self unload either hiab or Moffett so charge a lot more in 1st place I've seen rates people get paid weekly or fortnightly on containers and I personally couldn't run a truck on it ,I doubt 10% of owner drivers got all there own ...

unless you have all your own work for a customer which is rare most companies I work for on bricks won't use owner drivers they call in the big boys xpo had some wincanton stobarts wincanton etc if you take a load its there terms 60 days is wincanton when they pay is fine ,if problem with paperwork...

If they charge you 5% and you are lucky enough to be making 10% clear profit they are taking HALF of your profit.

For every firm paying said rates there is a sub-contractor accepting said rates.
If they are daft enough to work at a loss you can hardly be surprised if it's allowed to continue.

It's valid for life however, you should do a refresher each year to ensure you stay up to date with legislation and best practice. You can do your refreshers online now. Buy the most up to date you can find. You'll be referring to it for the foreseeable. Probably best replaced at least five yearly.

If you have read and retained the information from Lowe's Handbook you have more than enough knowledge to apply for a restricted licence.
