Can anyone tell me if is worth buying a 18 tonner for cx jobs?
For now I have a lwb van to see how things are going on this platform and I would like an upgrade. I don't have access to see hgv jobs. I know it depends a lot where you based but west Midlands is always busy. Also what is the charge per mile for hgv?

I saw a few lorries pulled over on to the hard shoulder, I can only assume they were doing so for their break?
How common is this practice in UK as I assume it’s not legal?

If I drive the truck solo to the place of PMI and drive the truck back to the operating centre after. I do no other driving for this company, nor any other. I include it in with my TM activities invoice.

a) Do I have to insert my card?
b) I insert my card but select out of scope and that's it?
c) I insert my card select Out of Scope, but I still have to do previous 7 days manual entries?

Good Morning. No it's not another newbie post not remembering his CPC re WTD, I am in a bit of an argument the above WTD. The other day I had total 3hrs drive, a 15 minute break within that period & the rest was other work upto 6hrs, I then drove a further 1hr & got on a bay to unload & had a 45 break, How I read it as long as I have a 15 min break before 6.01 hrs of combined work & don't exceed 4.5hrs driving then I'm OK, if I then work between 6 - 9hrs total working time I have to have a further 15 & then after 9hrs I must have a further 15 break, Am I right??? 🙄🙃

Little serious post here. Work for a company doing multidrop. Once you finish you go home and still payed till 4. Any overtime isn’t paid. 90% of the routes are ridiculous. Drivers work there tacho break and majority still come in late. Mentioned the routes are impossible to complete if you actually have your correct rest and just got told “swings and roundabouts” anybody faced anything like this before? Is there anything I could do? Apart from finding a new job lol.

Got a quandary.
Would you leave a 42hr a week contracted full time none HGV job to go to an agency class 1 job that pays £1.90 more an hour
Obviously the agency job is zero hours but they say I'll get at least 4 days work a week
Trouble is I've been badly stung by agency HGV in the past who just lied to get people on board, so I have very little confidence in them now

Genuine question because I am questioning the answer now. I drive a 32T rigid and a certain company says I can travel at 32400 legally because there is an allowance on the weight. Is this actually true? I will always tip off the extra which is a massive faff but I'm not comfortable with being overloaded.

Hello I'm having doubts that maybe, I'm not confident in being a successful bus driver. I love driving sure and I love passengers and I love the environment. But I've tried to get my head round how to physically be a bus driver, I'm not sure I can. Any advice please.

Currently got a Garmin Dezl 9700 but, I'm finding no matter how many times you try to avoid tight unsuitable roads it still wants to take you around there because it’s the quickest way. Hi guys and girls hope you're all well. So I'm looking for honest opinions/feedback on what you would do in my situation. In paid 125 a day because my company paid for my license, was told 8-10 hours a day and stupidly believed them before signing the paperwork to agree to my wage. Not for a new pass I thought that'd be good. But I've been driving since January and the shortest day I've had was 11.5 hours but for the same 125 so as you can work out hourly rate is not good. I've provably done minimum 10 15hour shifts (which work out about 8.60 an hour roughly) which is obviously a brilliant wGe for hgv driving. 🤪🤥 What would you guys honestly do? Can't ask for wGe to be increased because they won't do that for 3 years but no way I'm doing these hours for 3 years for that wage.

Quick question, I'm training for theory tests and case studies at the moment and this has question has come up on the CPC Module 2 training.

I chose 'Other work' as the answer but the correct answer be should be 'Period of availability.

I thought POA should be used when you know exactly how long you're going to be stopped for, so I thought other work was a more sensible option.

Story:
I had flat bed trailer. Person from company where I had collection called me and chasing me that I'm late for collection. When I arrived as planned by the office he wasn't there arrived shortly after me as he went to another job. Quickly jumped in Fork lift truck lift Load (Doubel Factory/Production line) on my trailer, quickly parked and left.
I did inspect load walk around multiple times. To me it looks like One big piece. I used 3 straps through middle 3 straps over the top and 1 strap on each end to secure movement load max weight 4 tons.
After 20 miles of driving middle of load collapsed and slides of the trailer.
No one get hurt no damage on the road no traffic blocked as straight away another drivers helps to pull it of the road to the gras.

Police arrived took pictures and statement, recovery arrived they did manage to put load back on and we all left.

Now...

Some advice please!
Taking a job locally as a service bus driver (no tacho) am I on my day off able to do a HGV or PSV agency shift.
Any pointers.

If I clock on at 03:46 and walk to my truck and put my card in at 04:00 do I need to do a manual entry for 14 minutes, bearing in mind if we clock on at 03:46 we don't get paid until 04:00
