yes there’s still a reversing test it’s just done separately from your driving test

it's called the 'off road test' reversing and coupling procedure.
When you have completed this you can drive forward..

Massively depends on obviously how quick the individual picks it up however in most cases I don't think 2-3 is enough

The only advice I can give for the reverse is slow speed fast hands and take the shunt if you need to

The reversing exercise can be cheated as the training center puts stickers on the trailer. But slow it down take your time. I got told full lock right till u see the sticker on the trailer then full lock left. When your osf wheel goes to the line follow it till u and the trailer are straight. Back a bit turn left and follow it round to the bay.

this is exactly how I "passed" the reversing exercise last year, (stickers on trailer and rear wheel arch.)
Plus if you over steer, you can take a shunt then just guide it in.

cool. I have been driving class 1 for 15 month's now and done a whopping mistake. It still happens even after a year

I only had about 9 attempts at reversing while training on the morning of test, and probably it on the actual test and passed.
Now I reckon 6 shunts is my best effort on a bay 😁

most times it's 1 hit for me now. But when I'm back in yard and it's empty I miss a massive gap to drop the trailer lol

I’ve been teaching LGV for 22 years.. all down to the individual to when ‘the Penny’ drops.. you get natural drivers who pick it up straight away and others who take much longer, I now book the reverse slots for day 3 of the course, so if you get it ‘great’ if you struggle you’ve got 3 days to get it right…

Depends on you. I did 3 in a full sized artic day one and 3 in one a little shorter day 2 then passed. But i can reverse a trailer already.

I did a full day at it. First going forward and reversing to figure the steering out then easing onto the full test. Next morning passed first time. Try and book with someone with there own approved reversing pad. A lot easier than doing it all together on test day

I was smashing it at the training Center, 9/10 backed it strait in. My test went to poo, 2 shunts and a goal. Compose yourself take your time and use yours 2 shunts and goals if you need them. Good luck for next time

Some drivers have had their class 1 for years and still can’t reverse! It’s not easy for a reason. If it was easy, everyone would pass after 3 hours practice. Me thinks you were a fool to think it was enough

Practice the S manoeuvre as many times as possible to understand what to do and when to do. In reversing, quick steer and slow motion is the best way to do. If you drive quickly whilst reversing then everything goes wrong. Secondly remember steer left to reverse trailer right and steer right to reverse trailer left. Do not oversteer.

Just remember you can always drive forward and reverse it back straight! Also reversing right turns left vice versa!

Take your time, don’t rush the manoeuvre, also don’t just rely on your mirrors, head out of the drivers window to see your trailer position more accurately.
Above all take your time, no matter what anyone says we all have bad reversing days.

When I did my test we were taught a set move, it got you started, but you learn on the job. Xxx
