There is no law stating you must be paid for work completed outside of contracted hours. (feel free to post a link if there is) So as stated. Payment is irrelevant.

same as when you leave your truck from the day before, your meant to make a manual entry to the end of your shift when getting in the truck the next morning

I think by rights you should do a manual entry for the time you officially start. I do one every morning to start at 5 am even though I don't get to truck while 5.o5 or 05.10.

Looks like you haven’t signed out if night time hour regulations,
Clock on at 0400hrs once you put Tacho card in do a manual entry from 0400hrs as other work

Depends if if your doing another walk around check after 4am.
You need to show on the tacho at least 15mins work at the start of your shift which proves you have done your checks. Your tacho is not the way you get paid, it’s to keep you legal.

Yes a manual entry should be done, clocking in, getting keys and paperwork is all part of your job.
If you don't get paid till 0400 then 0400 is when I would be walking in the door

I start work at 4pm.
I arrive at my place of work around 3:46 pm and I swipe in but I get coffee and chat to people until 4pm. The I get my keys and paperwork and go and find my truck.
I do manual entry as work from 4pm.
I swipe in voluntarily on my own time and remain on rest drinking coffee until 4pm.

Start at 04:00, or clock in at 03:45 and manual entry your start at 03:45.

But if you don’t get paid for it, then start at the time you get paid from.

Legally, your tacho should show your working hours otherwise it’s falsifying your tacho.

salary payed, but if there a tacho inspection and your card doesn’t match up with your clock in time question’s will start to be asked

I start at 1500, always get there around 1440, time to have chat, coffee etc. Work not handed out until 1500, so 1500 is start time. However, if you are given work and keys as you clock in, you've started work....

Yes, as if they check what time you actually clock in you could be for the high jump. Those extra minutes mean you're under night work rules (10hrs work) aswell as tacho fraud being committed
It's not worth the hassle or risk if you get tugged

Obviously, there's no requirement in law for a card to be in within 15 minutes.

ok this is as i read the law.
pull card at 16:25 finish at 16:30
start next day at 04:00 put card in at 04:02.
Manual entry 16:25 - 16:30 other work
16:30 - 04:00 rest and 04:00 - 04:02 as other work.
the only time you can not show other work at the start and end of your shift is if your a tramper i.e already in the truck. no day driver can legally show no start time or end time in the truck. you've got to get keys, unlock gates, get paper work. etc etc.
