Little serious post here. Work for a company doing multidrop. Once you finish you go home and still payed till 4. Any overtime isn’t paid. 90% of the routes are ridiculous. Drivers work there tacho break and majority still come in late. Mentioned the routes are impossible to complete if you actually have your correct rest and just got told “swings and roundabouts” anybody faced anything like this before? Is there anything I could do? Apart from finding a new job lol.

You work to earn money, tell them to stick their job. Fool you and anyone else who accepts this treatment.

have you seen what the computer says as I'm inclined to agree get back for your finish time and tell them you ran out of time to complete delivery.

I would ask other members of staff if they're in one, mate. I'm in the CWU union but they represent communications businesses' employees.

Tbh… I wouldn’t stick around.. sounds like the company already has “its ways” and doesn’t care about you at all.

We’ve all probably worked through brakes on several occasions (mainly Fridays 🤣) BUT… if a TM or equivalent forces you to do them because a computer says you can then I’d be straight out the door.. work for a company that will do its best too look after you. They can be hard to find BUT you will land one.

i honestly think the routes are planned without a break in them, Or planned to have them worked through. The most experienced drivers they have still only get in just before 3… throw the hour unpaid “break” we are suppose to have in. It’s not possible.

planned with google maps so not accounting for hgv routes and not allowing time for the delivery fail the drops and get back to depot

Easy court case win that if they give you a disciplinary or fire you for it, just record and document everything! Stick to your tacho rules mate and if they have anything to say about it, see them in court

Sounds like Bidfood. Do your contracted hours. If deliveries can't be done in the allotted time and your not paid overtime then thats on the office and not you. Make sure your back for the end of your shift like the above post.

Personally, I would say the planning needs looking at. If they threaten you with anything, say you want a meeting with a witness or Union rep present. Could also on the sly, tell Vosa they are planning over contracted hours and forcing drivers beyond legal limits.

If they are encouraging or not doing anything about people working their tacho breaks then it might be worth reporting it to a union or blow the whistle

A lot is dependent on you and your circumstances. This is the type of work and the way multidrop is. It's very demanding, on planners and drivers as well as warehouse. It's constant problem solving.

It's not for everyone. Some depots are worse than others. So again, it depends on what you want from your job. If you want to solve the problems, can you solve them, are they unsolvable - should you move? Is this normal in multidrop, yes.

I turned down a job offer from a company that operated like that. Did a couple of months agency for them and was paid by the hour, and the sums just didn't add up for the salary offered so I just said no thanks and moved on.

Some tin pot companies will try take the piss. I do some long days but always within my hours and as I like the money I'm fine with this. The only occasion I have had to be late for a delivery I phoned them explained.

They told me drop the trailer go park up for the night collect in the morn they will adjust my eta in the morn for what time I will get there. Sometimes its out our hands. But they should always understand if they are a good company.

We do monthly tests on speed awareness and safety so its drilled in and they have to practice what they preach. Like most drivers I do some 14 hour shifts but its allowed a few times a week and I tramp and like the money so its by the by for me. Ya shouldn't need to drive like Lewis to achieve deliveries. A wreck or death would be far worse.

It might be worth pointing out that, if and when tachograph are inspected there are no signs of delivery's taking place only you went for a drive had your 15 and 30 min breaks then drove back to base.
