Morning all. This is similar to a load I was faced with yesterday (ignore that it is strapped) I believe what I did

You done right all load’s have to be secure only the way you laced the ratchet (excess strap going down eg. Under the pallet or between ratchet strap and chime of trailer goes under the handle that way it’s not in your way and if ratchet to chassis and excess strap going up to chime or under curtain the way you laced it.) will you remember that! mmmmm

If in doubt always strap and secure a load no matter what it is then you got nothing to worry about have you? it might take you a little longer to secure but better safe than sorry always drivers responsibility after all it's your license..

Mate.... hats off for strapping it... most won't... just because it has load bearing curtains that doesn't mean the load won't shift inside... which can be the difference between you staying on your axles or being tilted the wrong way on a bad camber change...

Doesn’t look like an XL trailer to me - I thought they should have a lip at the side as well as load bearing curtains?

If you got stopped you be fined for not strapping load down. Your curtain is a safety feature but not as good as straps.

Our company always insist on a pack gap at front less likely to be overweight on your drive axle.
Don't matter what type trailer needs rachet strapping ideally with corner boards u get pulled your be in trouble with nothing on like a alot have said most brick yards won't let u out without securing load.

It is roofly £3k fine for not strapping load like this one.
And what about possibility of killing someone with the pallet coming off?

Only a court could impose that. The maximum roadside penalty is £100 officers at the roadside don’t decide what the fine is
For a court to impose a fine The prosecution would have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that you broke a law.

Always strap that load regardless of weight bearing curtains especially with them being bricks not worth it anything else not a problem but they are heavy and extra security is always best to be on the safe side.
