Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
I have to leave my card in all week. I got into trouble for removing it when I first came over to NL. I used to remove it every night but I’m not allowed to remove it anymore until I take a weekend break. I have to always record my country of start and finish. I no longer need to record border crossings with the new generation tacho installed.

I leave mine in all week never had a problem

My opinion I put it in on a Monday and it doesn't come out till I finish.
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
Take it out or leave it in up to u as no one else will use ur vehicle
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
I've always been told to take out end off every shift
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
Always thought you had to leave it in as you responsible for the vehicle also you can move it and no one know it was you
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
I use Driver Card Reader Pro software to check myself for possible infringements after working my 6 shifts. Every week it shows I have infringements for regulation (EC) No 165/2014 of the European Parliament article 34 7. I’ve asked the ‘man who knows’ at work about this and was advised to ignore it as I’m at work 24/7 from the start to the end of my 6on. I’m not sure he is correct but I ain’t beating myself up over it.

I guess the 'man who knows' has never read 165/2014 then!!NiKaven wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 3:54 pm I use Driver Card Reader Pro software to check myself for possible infringements after working my 6 shifts. Tachomaster is correct.
DVSA have the power to issue a FPN for failure to do so too.

It is not written in any law, that you have to remove your card. If you drive in Europe and do this you will be fined.
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
From when digi cards were introduced I have always left my card in from Monday morning until I finish on Friday morning. Never been an issue and I have had a couple of DSVA roadside checks in that time.

I was stopped by DVSA and they advised me not to take it out when they downloaded my card. They said if you’re staying in the truck you’re still at work so should show that you’re on break with the truck for your rest period.
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
I realise a lot gets lost in translation, but you most certainly are not "still at work" during your daily rest!kimbesto-158 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 4:02 pm I was stopped by DVSA and they advised me not to take it out when they downloaded my card. There is no requirement in the legislation for the card to stay in the VU beyond the end of the shift.
The legislation stipulates that all activities (including rest) must be recorded. This requirement can legally be satisfied
EITHER
BY leaving the card in and selecting "rest" (not forgetting to enter end country and start country at the beginning of the next shift)
OR
By ejecting the card and manually entering the rest period when the card is re-inserted.
(In this case the driver will be prompted to enter end and start country)

Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
Errr no. You're correct. Manual entry in and out. Only way that can fail is if the speed sensor on the gearbox fails. I had it on a MAN it slipped and put it on work during a daily rest. Never been corrected and been doing it since 07.

I used leave it in when in Europe but now I take it out
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
They’re fkn useless. Most I’ve been on, you apparently need a 30 minute break in the first 6 hours of work.
The “Instructor” doesn’t know the basics, he SHOULD’T be instructing.
JAUPT really need to get a grip on it if it’s gonna stay. New guys being taught wrong isn’t gonna work!

Been told if sleeping in a cab leave the card in on rest/. Next day switch to other work for vehicle checks. Only remove if you're away from the vehicle for daily/weekly rest periods. Manual entry on return
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
Leave mine in all week, always have. No manual country either..
Never had a single problem with that.

Foreign drivers leave theirs in an do a manual entry , if they make a mistake they get fined so they must be doing it right x
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
Cpc trainer here
You are in the wrong mate unless you are the ONLY person who has access to the truck it’s in and you’re doing the manual entry properly. (It’s shocking how many people don’t!)

have a look at EC165/2014.
The original poster is correct in that there is no requirement to remove the card.
Provided all activities are recorded and the start/end country is entered, either method will suffice.
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
As long as you do everything correctly doesn't matter its in or out
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
I don't know the rules on this as never trapped but I will say do ur own research if ur unsure on something or even ask the dvla as they will happily clear it up. There are some cpc trainers that can be incorrect but think they are right so won't accept know different out of ego. I've had a couple like it over the years. So research it yourself. I've stopped at dvsa checkpoints before and asked the officers for advice and they will always help clear it up

Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
When I was tramping for the large company based in Penrith with white n green trucks who are shit hit on infringements and compliance my card went in Monday and came out Friday , never did a manual entry or print out .
I never got a single infringement or asked not to do it ever , just tapped rest at the end of the day .

Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
There’s no legal requirement to either remove the card or leave it in in the uk
But if you’re in Europe the requirement is to be left in at all times
That’s probably what he means if you’re using the same guy each time then I would get another instructor
Also next time you’re in his class ask him if you can use seven days card in one week and see what answer he gives and I’ll bet he says no you can only use six

Just nod your head and pretend. We tend to know better anyway. But as a tramper I remove it in case the tacho screws up

Crock of sh*t, the Europeans want to see a continuous line of our activities, they then start to dig if it's a miss.
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
As per, a DCPC trainer talking shite. It’s generally accepted that you can either leave it in or take it out when tramping. HOWEVER, to be strictly legal when tramping you should End Country at the end of shift and Begin Country at the start of shift via a manual entry. Once again “however” in the UK at least you’ll face no sanctions if you merely leave it in and select rest. Aren’t tacho rules so clear and transparent?

I'm tramping and leave mine in all week just put it on rest no need to manual entry as the tacho is already on uk country. I leave it in as when i do get a job to Europe and get pulled over there they what to see your recorded daily rest. Never been pulled up about it yet and gets checked by a 3rd party.

Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
I always left mine in..the problem lies with instructors..who have never driven a truck..let alone been inside one.
Only been instructed on the task at hand.

When I was still in the Uk I always left my taco disc in if I was on a night out because it showed that I was having the full amount of hours off.

Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
My card never comes out unless I'm in the workshop or switching to another unit. I even leave it in for weekly rest. Never had a problem when dvsa done stop and check.
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
No legislation to take the card out or leave it in! I leave mine in and manual entry the end/start country and it's all perfectly legal! The instructor who says you must take your card out clearly doesn't know one end of a truck from the other, has never actually done the job and is clearly just a powerpoint monkey!
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
Mine stays in for the 3 weeks I'm away including the weekends in Europe

Ideally you should end each day and begin each day on computer and leave card in only time you should take card out is if you have to leave vehicle incase it's stolen and anything was to happen you are responsible cos your card in head I have been driving 30 yrs now and still love it
Re: Every time I do the tacho cpc I get into an argument with the instructor! This time it was you MUST remove your card
