So, If, for example, I drive school children to a theme park for a day trip and I drive say 2 hrs there,
Go onto rest for 5 hrs , then drive back , drop off and return to base 2hrs.
Is my 5 hrs rest classed as 5 or 3 hrs then goes on to 2 hrs POA ?
Is my 5 hrs rest classed as 5 or 3 hrs then goes on to 2 hrs POA ?

5 hrs break unless you switch the mode to poa after 3 hrs

If you are spending your time freely and able to do as you want it is rest.
If you are sat in your bus ready to work at any moment it is POA.

It’s 5 hours break. Poa doesn’t usually come into the life of a coach driver. Never really a need.

But if you’re at say a football match , or similar,
And it Finnishes unexpectedly early,
Your then required to drive. . .
Yes you might be on rest,
But after say,45 mins rest,
Your then available for work , technically

nope. Your sat reading the paper. If they come back early, then at that point you begin work again.
If you went by your theory, wagon drivers would never be able to take a break while getting tipped, just in case they get tipped earlier than planned.
