Hi all, looking for suggestions for additional policies and procedures people have in place? Clients are mostly general haulage using curtain and flat trailers with occasional plant trailers.
Just looking for ideas on topics not looking to steal any lol. I have already got the basics like drugs and alcohol, tyre monitoring, health, fuel and AdBlue monitoring, GDPR, driving without card, anti bribery, anti slavery/human trafficking.

If you list what you already have in place and maybe the type of operation(s) you are managing then you should get the suggestions you're looking for👍

Operational Safety - pulling curtains in adverse weather - working at height and working on the bed of a trailer.. the list goes on and on but better to be more company specific rather than just general policies. The infringement policy is always a bone of contention.

Conduct, whilst on road, towards other road users, and when dealing with customers. You don't need Sweary McSwearface kicking off like a total chav damaging the business.
And Vulnerable Road Users, Mobile phone use, Social Media, not to mention Bridge Strikes.

Policies do need to be specific to the operation and a lot of policies and procedures can be written into a well written driver handbook that is then signed for by the driver.
You've already had some suggestions in the comments but the basics that I put in place are below.
This is not an exhaustive list and it all depends on the operation.
Health and safety policy,
Manual handling,
Smoking,
Alcohol,
Drugs,
Mobile phones.
Driver responsibilities
Driver standards
Driver distractions/in-cab technology
Driver health and eyesight
Managing infringements
Driver walkaround checks and defect reporting.
VOR
Wheel security
Tyre management
Safe loading/security
Vulnerable road users
Bridge strikes
Security and anti-terrorism
Read through a DBA and that will give you some idea what the DVSA will expect to see as a minimum requirement but a TC's view can be different and driver management is just as important as vehicle management in their eyes, it's an area a lot of operators don't seem to bother about👍
