I know this might be a stupid question but when a company asks for 3mths, 6 mths or 12 mths experience etc, what does that actually mean??
I know it's for insurance purposes and the company needs to pay a premium for a new pass but does it mean said candidate needs to have been driving for that time or does it mean that they need to have held their license for that time??
I'm just wondering if a new pass has held their license for over 6mths/12mths but not actually found a job yet, will they be considered for the job.
I have seen ads for jobs where it states "must have held license for 6mths" and other jobs looking for "6 mths experience".

I passed with mainstream and I managed to get a job within 3 weeks of passing. It is difficult finding jobs for new hgv drivers but they are out there. Don't give up

Try DHL , GXO, XPO. If they are any in your area. They all offered me jobs and take on new passes. You could try Class 2 work if Class 1 jobs are not available. I have Class 1 but do Class 2 work and absolutely love my job. It is the best job I have ever had and not looking to go on Class 1 anytime soon.

I’ve put hgv on back burner at minute I’m applying for stuff still but gone back into coach driving at minute. Working 4 days a week taking home between £550 and £600 dependent on hours worked. I’ll get onto hgv’s when the times right. Had a few call backs on couple of interviews but the jobs ain’t been right for me. The right job will come.

If you live local enough to Tewkesbury try cotteswold dairy, they took me on day after my test, and they will 100% support you.
Sorry to hear that you haven’t found anything yet but don’t give up you’ll love it when you get that opportunity come through!
