It’s crap, people want it done for nothing, that’s the reason they put it on there rather than ring a local haulage firm. Don’t bother mate
Re: Good Afternoon, How good is haulage exchange for a start up company? TIA
it's only transport companies on there, so it's all subcontracting/backload work.
There are no end customers on there who post jobs. I think it's the expensive subscription fees that mean it's only worthwhile for transport customers to subscribe as they will use it a lot.
Re: Good Afternoon, How good is haulage exchange for a start up company? TIA
I know a few end customers around our way that are on here. As in promotion companies, just to save a few quid. They often get messed about thoughGogson wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 2:04 pmit's only transport companies on there, so it's all subcontracting/backload work.

When you say on here do you mean this group or the Haulage Exchange?Clivero wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 2:04 pmI know a few end customers around our way that are on here. Bear in mind it's all subcontracting/backload work on there, so in the long term it's only good for loads to get you back to your own area and your own direct customers (end users, not subcontracting).Clivero wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 2:04 pmI know a few end customers around our way that are on here. The best thing about these sites is that it's subcontracting on an ad-hoc basis, which means you can start with these jobs and then over time pick up some of your own direct customers and just use the sites to fill in the gaps and get backloads.
If you go down the route that many do of
subcontracting full on a dedicated basis how will you ever be able to fit your own direct customers in when you find them .
However it takes time to look for and bid on work on these systems so you can't really do it well if you are also driving, you need someone watching it full time through the day for suitable loads.

I meant to add personally I wouldn't start until May 2024 at the earliest, and I would take a close look at the state of the economy before setting up.Clivero wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 2:04 pmI know a few end customers around our way that are on here. Don't do it get loads direct
Re: Good Afternoon, How good is haulage exchange for a start up company? TIA
I found it works well to get you home and get your name about but you want your own work to get you out first
Re: Good Afternoon, How good is haulage exchange for a start up company? TIA
Irish auction bid backwards whoever's cheapest
Re: Good Afternoon, How good is haulage exchange for a start up company? TIA
Just come off it after 3 years, race to bottom, bad debts, every excuse in the world not to pay by the bedroom middle min, who go pop with ltd co and no balance sheet assets.
I've lost more every year in bad debts than the subscription. Better of just building your network. Make the work 2 way, eg offer some of your loads out. And you'll get loads back in return. Quid pro quo and all that.

Don’t waste your money
Re: Good Afternoon, How good is haulage exchange for a start up company? TIA
Use return loads instead. Good way to make contacts. No messing about. Great for repeat business as well. A lot of the loads from the exchange are on return loads anyway.. Thank me later.

I run 5 wagons and we use it
It is well over priced but it also gives you chance to build a customers list so if your thinking of it I would recommend 6months
