Full Job Description
Class 2 HGV Tipper Drivers required for permanent full time work. Also part time position to cover holidays and sickness.

We are a professional FORS and CHAS accredited earthmoving, quarried and recycled aggregate & topsoil supplier based in Crewe endeavouring to provide a competitive, compliant, efficient yet friendly service throughout Cheshire & Staffordshire and surrounding areas with our fleet of 8 wheel / 32 tonne gross tippers.

This is not a job for any driver, this is a job for someone who has a love for their job and their truck and wants to and has pride in their work, be a team player and do their best.

We currently have a great team of drivers, but we just need some more full time drivers to make our team complete, and a part time driver to cover holidays and sickness would be a bonus.

You will have your own unique Volvo or Scania tipper to look after. All our vehicles are dealer maintained and we have a tyre contract.

You will be responsible for the accurate and timely movement and delivery of clay / subsoils / aggregates / topsoil throughout Cheshire & Staffordshire, servicing mainly the Construction, Housebuilding & Agricultural sectors. Work is very varied - not an A to B job.
Ensuring all documentation is completed accurately with attention to detail and reporting any issues and defects immediately.
Adhering to safe working practices to ensure the safety of yourself and others at all times.
Complying with all relevant legislation in line with Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive requirements.
Daily walk around checks and checking wheel nuts.
Keeping truck clean, inside and out - washing vehicle once a week.
Good timekeeping and able to work unsupervised.
Enthusiastic and reliable with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Must have good communication skills and a flexible ‘can do’ attitude to work.
Full PPE supplied.
Local area knowledge preferred.
Previous tipping experience preferred, but not essential.
Must have HGV Sat Nav or access to equivelant app.
Prefer a minimum of 2 years Class 2 experience, due to insurance excesses.
If successful, you will have sufficient training upon starting to ensure you are familiar with your vehicle and the work.
We can work generally from 5.30am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday, which is £13.25 per hour - start times vary due to differing nature of work and whether vehicle is loaded / empty or needs fuel.

Saturday mornings - availability of one in four, which is £17 per hour.

We only have 8 wheel tipper day cabs so there will not be any nights out.

No deduction for breaks, paid from start to finish. This means you will be paid from when you are asked to start and you are on time and until you arrive back in the yard, unless washing off and / or doing any other additional jobs that maybe speradically asked of you. You are not paid if you choose to drag time out in the yard doing nothing and hope no one notices! We want drivers who are timely in arriving and go home asap when finished.

This is NOT a job for someone who is looking for an easy job. The job requires you to pay attention to your driving and the job, take pride in your work, and work the hours required and adhere to tacho and working time directive requirements but also by return not taking advantage - training can be provided for anyone who does not already understand regulations fully (4.5 hours driving / 6 hours WTD).

This is also NOT a job for drivers who have not been working for a while and potentially could constantly have their partners badgering them during the day when we require them to be concentrating on their job.

You are supplied with daily worksheets that outline what jobs you are required to do, although it is possible that these can change throughout the day. If there is anything that you don't understand then you are expected and welcomed to ask management for further guidance.

If you have any defects or notice anything else that needs reporting, you are expected to report it to management asap, and not just assume that someone else has done it, so any issues can be rectified promptly.

If you have any issues onsite then you are also expected to report them immediately to management so they can be resolved in a timely manner and you are also expected to contact management before you return to the premises to discuss if there is anything else that is required and a general catch up, if required.

We try our best to run an efficient operation and so all of the above helps us all do this.

Unfortunately we do not have the resources to deal with newly passed HGV drivers. If you are newly passed please try and gain some experience and contact us again in the future.

We cannot employ drivers with previous drink driving or drug driving offences.

If you apply for the job please only do this if you are seriously interested and if you are asked to come for an interview please honour that appointment and don't use lame excuses that involve family members but if you can't attend please let us know. We would prefer that the limited appointment slots we have are utilised for genuine applicants and not reserved for timewasters.

To apply please email CV or call 01270 251522
