Hi,
Thank you for welcoming me into this forum.
There is a gentleman from Ukraine with a EU C+E driving licence with more than 5 years driving across the EU. Already legally in the UK but he
is not familiar yet with English. When we contacted agencies and companies English was one of the requirement for hiring. Is it possible to place the driver while he learns the language? or is there any training for him to attend to put him on the right direction to be hired as soon as possible?
Thank you

I'd say keep looking and asking. It's not a legal requirement, just their own. And there are hundreds of drivers around who can only say "yes boss, ok". As for courses try local college and local council or job center, they might point you to some free courses.

of course he does. But I find the hugely different treatment of a Ukrainian refugee to a Syrian, kurdish, Iraqi etc.. (brown) refugee rather startling to say the least. Perhaps some in this group should put some thought into this.

Be careful....although the driver may well have a C+E which may well have been gained in the EU (Poland and Romania are the usual) if that licence is Ukrainian it is not exchangeable for a UK licence......unless the DfT have relented in the last few months.

It would appear not, and additionally cat / van drivers who took a test in Ukraine before 28 December 2021, the law only allows automatic entitlement to be granted when the GB licence is issued. This is because the Ukrainian driver licensing authority does not retain information to confirm whether a test was taken in a manual or automatic vehicle before this date.
