it goes on the max gross weight so a solo unit would be either 18t or 26t so definitely over 7.5t

Does it say 7.5t mgv or mtw. It's normally done by your max plated weight not your actual weight. Also depends if it says except for access and you are delivering or collecting from premises with no other alternative route in or out.

it was road work around my base site and I had to go for garage to check some faulty errors in dash so I just drove through 7.5 zone . It was just unit only . Now I don’t know if they can catch me with any camera . I hope for the positive

I used to do multi drop in London and would get a ticket at least once a week after being caught by a camera.

think logically about this.
If there is a camera, it will have captured the registration number.
That registration number will show the vehicle's MAM as registered with the DVLA.
That is what would be used to determine if you have breached a weight limit.
