What is considered the correct way to ask for a period of grace, for an operator one truck to find a new TM after the current one resigns?
Are there any example letters about?

Just email your case worker explaining why your old one left and request a period of grace to find a new one. You will find they will be very helpful.

As above they are usually very accommodating but they don’t have to give you the grace period.

Email your case worker attached to your licence, explain what’s happening with regards to employing a new transport manager, the reason for change and how long you think you will need to add a new one. As long as your transparent and there’s nothing untoward happening they will be more than willing to assist

They are extremely helpful normally, a period of grace isn’t standard procedure, and normally only granted in exceptional circumstances(bereavement) etc.

Just be honest with them. If you’re West Mids I have space for another company

And tell them how you intend to maintain compliance in the interim period!
