We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Transport Planner with at least three years of experience in transport planning to assist and lead in the delivery of a broad range of technical projects, including schemes for local authorities, National Highways, Welsh Government and private sector clients.

Although you would be based in our Manchester office, you would be working collaboratively with our highly skilled transport planning and highways design teams across the UK. These teams are currently busy with a broad range of transport planning commissions, including business case appraisal (both England and Wales), active travel, highway infrastructure design and planning, traffic modelling, Transport Assessments and Travel Plan development.

Job Description:

The successful candidate would specifically need proven skills across a broad range of areas including preparation of Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans. It would also be desirable but not essential if the candidate had experience in producing active travel business cases (e.g. WelTAG, TAG or GM Mayor's Cycling and Walking Challenge Fund).

We are seeking highly motivated individuals who will play a key role in continuing the growth and development of established and successful teams across the UK. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their career via chartership, with a career programme which has been designed to assist and support your development through a clear pathway and structure.

What you’ll be doing:

Delivery of Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans.
Delivery of feasibility studies.
Assisting in the delivery of transport scheme business cases.
Assisting in the delivery of the Value for Money assessments and economic appraisals.
Undertaking active travel appraisals.
Development of traffic models and analysis.
Analyse, write and present results and reports.
Attend meetings with clients and other stakeholders.
Work as part of a team to develop solutions.
Support the Transport Planning Team by taking leadership and responsibility for the delivery of its tasks and projects.
Continue to develop your professional skills as you progress your career.
What we’re looking for:

A Bachelors and/or Masters degree.
IT Literate, capable of using MS Word, Excel and other office packages.
Have good written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in producing Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans.
Experience in using TRL Junctions (ARCADY and PICADY) and LinSig.
Have awareness, working knowledge or experience of working with DfT Appraisal Guidance.
Have strong analytical skills
Be accurate, pay attention to detail and deliver to agreed timescales.
Be able to work well in a team environment and develop relationships with internal colleagues.
Additional useful skills:

Experience in using Saturn and Vissim models.
Experience in using AutoCad; and GIS skills
