About Our Client
Large UK manufacturing organisation focused on improving its customer's profitability and performance.
Job Description
Responsible for installing and delivering robust procedures and disciplines in managing the transport planning operation across the UK. The focus here is on delivering on time and in full to our customers.

Deliver transparent reporting for the logistics planning operation which encompasses visibility via KPIs, targets and objectives for performance levels and compliance. Deliver transparency of the logistics operation. Visibility of activities, performance levels, compliance, etc. through integration into the wider level services
Deliver efficiencies through CI activity in both vehicle performance and driver activities. Team 1:1s, audits, standardisation of procedures etc.
Improved utilisation of fleet through working with internal departments and external hauliers to maximise performance and minimise costs. H&S, Right First Time, and financial performance targets being the goal.
Develop an effective set of key KPI's / Costings with the relevant stakeholders and reports data for presentation to all levels of the business including the Board.
Provides leadership and guidance to Direct Reports to ensure compliance with company standards on a regular, planned and structured basis including weekly operational conference calls.
Responsible for the line management of the transport planning team and the delivery of the transport planning operation across the Group.

Assists with the execution of the functional short and long-term Strategy and strategic goals.


People

Supports and implements strategy to achieve a high performing team culture by:

Providing leadership and guidance, coaching and mentoring to Direct Reports to ensure a Team approach embedding the Company Core Values.
Ensuring Direct Reports are held accountable for their standard of performance within their area of the business, supporting and utilising the performance tools provided.
Ensuring delivery of the functional training plan is established and executed to meet overall Department Goals.
Supporting and implementing strong recruitment strategies and workforce planning techniques to ensure the function is appropriately resourced to deliver on strategic goals.
Creating a high-performance talent pipeline with robust succession plan to ensure resource is performing as required to meet and exceed strategic goals.
Establishing a minimum of a Weekly Pulse Meeting/Call and monthly 1:1 meetings with Direct Reports to review performance against Goals and set focus areas for forthcoming month.


Customer Focus

Provides leadership and management guidance to ensure a high level of customer service throughout every aspect of our business by:

Improving customer profitability by building relationships and providing high quality guidance, solutions and advice.
Instilling team working and high standards towards both internal and external customers.
Compliance (Health, Safety, Quality & Environment)

HSE - Provides leadership and manages enforcement of compliance to legislative, 3rd party and company standards.
Quality - Provide leadership and guidance to Direct Reports to ensure compliance with company standards.


Growth

Ensures sustainable business growth in line with the company strategy by:

Driving our business by working together, being proactive and embracing change and challenges.
Focusing on our customer needs, concentrating on the right opportunities to sustain growth.
Helping our customers to grow and achieve their business objectives.


Reporting

Develops an effective set of key KPI's / Costings with the relevant stakeholders and reports data for presentation to all levels of the business including the Board.
Takes action on these KPI's where figures are not hitting target or benchmark.


The Successful Applicant
Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

Formal qualification in business management and/or continuous improvement.
Experience in similar or comparable industry.
Proven ability of working in a complex environment.
Strong leadership skills, ability to motivate employees and bring people together.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organisation.
High levels of resilience, integrity and dependability
What's on Offer
40 hr contract - no rota but jobs at this level within their organisation come with a "whatever it takes" remit so you need to be contactable and responsive out of these hours.
Limited hybrid working. Travel throughout GB required. Maybe away from home one week a month, perhaps a bit less
Competitive salary of between £50,000-£60,000
