Confused about Opting out of working time regulations

Post by movingahead »

Hi guys,

Can you help? I've been reading and reading and everything I read is pages long with no direct answer.

When a driver opts out of working time regs, what's the maximum number of hours he can work in one night shift and what's the maximum number of hours he can work in a day shift?

Thanks

Only agency and self-employed drivers can opt out of Working time regulations. Otherwise in a single shift driver can work for maximum of 15hrs (when taking a 9hr reduced daily rest) no more than 3 times between weekly rests or on other days when reduced daily rest is not taken then working time would be 13hrs (when taking full 11hr daily rest).
If work takes place during the night time working hours between 00:00-04:00 then a maximum of 10hrs working time is permitted in a 24hr period. This can be extended under a collective workforce agreement.
