What would be your course of action being a resident and also training to be a TM? Would like to hear your views...

Post by harienar »

Hi all, Lorries parking at a site that isn’t on their O License as an operating centre.
These said lorries causing a disturbance to residents that are at the entrance/exit to the track that leads to the site.
What would be your course of action being a resident and also training to be a TM?
Should point out some action has been taken but with no joy. Would like to hear your views and if there is anything different to try.

Post it all online then and shame the company involved. They’ll soon reply to you.

I have reported to TC or as near to them as I can get.
Apparently there was an investigation (there wasn’t) and all they replied was “the O licenses do not hold no restrictions on operating hours from their operating centres”
That’s the case for the operating centres actually on their O license but how they weren’t getting that this site isn’t on any O license baffles me!
Site was previously a haulage company that ceased years ago and he never renewed it a an operating centre. Now they let anyone park there.

Let the operator know you don’t want them parking there and if this persists you will contact TM
And DVSA , normally a letter in the windscreen works

Traff Commish does not investigate these so don’t waste time with them.
Report (with photo if possible) to DVSA via .Gov website to [email protected] under “Report about a commercial vehicle driver or company”
They will pass the detsils to the Regional Investigation Team for further action.
It works…

TM should have got the company to apply for an O Licence at the place they want to park their trucks. Prohibition could be imposed on their current O Licence if word gets back to the TC

From what you say, it sounds like historically the site has been used as a haulage yard from a planning aspect, and therefore a suitable operating centre, O licence would be required by vehicle operators, not the site owner, from there the devil is in the detail, and that may be that you bought houses next to a haulage yard, and now you live next to a haulage yard....

it hasn’t been a haulage site for over 15 years and was never renewed as Operating centre. We moved here over 9 years ago. I understand it’s down to the operators for their o license and they do have one, only this site isn’t on there as an operating centre. It’s the fact that no one is doing anything about it and I have reported it to the relevant people.
