Dear Sir/Madam. Can't even be bothered addressing them to our names even though they obviously have them all on file. Says everything about this government.

it's just a generic letter that they have done as a mailshot to every HGV licence holder in the country.

And how much time the DVLA has wasted sending them out when their time could have been invested much more profitably by processing licence renewals for those who have clearly indicated that they want to be out there doing the job!!

Bigger question is why are they using are details other than what they are supposed to be used for. I am sure I didn't agree to receive begging letters from them.

yet they scraped the trailer test which was a proper driving test.
The stupid thing is that as a ADR driver I do Three days when I do my ADR and my petroleum driver passport renewal is one day every 5 years so a one day first aid course and I have got the lot.

I get where you are coming from because all that training is all 100% relervent to your job which is what any training should be and I do think it should be counted towards your DCPC. Unfortunately, not everyone has to do that amount of retraining and there are a lot of companies where drivers just get thrown a set of keys and told to crack on with no training hence the introduction of the DCPC.

how about making it mandatory for All transport companies to train their drivers and make it an offence not to. It would do a lot more good than the dcpc...but of course there's no money in that!

How would they monitor that all companies are training the drivers if it was not held on a central database?
Companies can already choose to become a DCPC centre and train someone internally to train the drivers and they can even develop and have their own specific courses approved to ensure the quality of the training but most companies prefer to contract it out.

I believe they cannot get rid of it as it is enshrined in the legislation with the EU so UK drivers dcpc recognized over there and vice versa

If they checked the system before sending mine they would see that I’m still awaiting my renewal which will be sent in July and expired in September 🙄

if you passed your medical can keep driving under section 88/6 of the road traffic act. Search Google for Section 88 DVLA

yes that’s done but if I was wanting to change jobs I’d be better off with my license also considering that it was sent 2 months prior 🤔

I bet they’ll not get any drivers, but they’ll put non-experienced drivers on the roads shortly and they’ll put us all in danger without even think.
