Can anyone find any reason why this can’t happen? Or put me in touch with someone who can help?
Scania aren’t much help, just tell me they can’t build a truck without a speed limiter or tacho and company policy says they can’t be involved in removing them!!!
So I believe if you build or convert a truck to a motorhome on an 18t chassis and its says it’s a motorhome on the logbook and not used for hire or reward then…
1) No operator licence is required
2) No inspections, just an MOT once a year
3) No speed limiter or tacho required
4) No drivers cpc training required, just a valid HGV class 2 license?
Almost there… Just trying to find someone who can remove the tacho and speed limiter without leaving all the dashboard warnings flashing constantly!!! Any suggestions appreciated?

Well I can honestly say doing a HGV Class 1 course worst decision I've ever done what a waste of money, when you can't get your foot in the door anywhere tried agency tried emailing companies with CV only to get turned away needing 1yr + experience how the hell are you supposed to get experience in the first place 😡😡😡, even tried Class 2 work in places still the same and even agency places want 1yr+ experience time to look for other work now I wouldn't recommend HGV to anyone wanting to start in the business.

Good evening all, just a scenario, if a driver hasn't stowed his tail lift properly after a delivery (not on the floor but at the same height as the trailer bed) and has travelled with it incorrectly stowed, if they were to be stopped by DVSA what sort of consequences could a company/driver be looking at facing? Thank you

It's a PG-9. I've had it happen to one of my drivers who was unlucky enough to have been spotted by the police and subsequently pulled over. Driver was also charged with dangerous driving.
Essentially if the tail lift is not stowed correctly and is protruding out of the rear of the body it could cause a major injury or a fatality, especially to a motorcyclist.
The cherry on the cake with it being a pg9, I had to get it put through an MOT to get it back on the road, waiting times for it is ridiculous and then obviously marked against your record which could trigger a DVSA site visit or desk audit.

You won't find anybody mate who's going to say do it or try it. I was in the same situation as you back In October last year and now I have got 3 vehicles and they all working on decent money. My advice is go ahead and do not ask for any advice because no body will encourage you to do it.

Having to get a new sat nav, l have always used TomTom for BUS and HGV, with live traffic without the need for a smartphone, now it seems that all the new TomTom satnavs now need a smartphone for live traffic, l have been looking at the TomTom GO EXPERT 7 for BUS and HGV which requires a smartphone.
Are there any fellow Coach drivers that use the GO EXPERT 7, and what are your thoughts? l did here TomTom was going to make a 4G version with no smartphone required on the EXPERT 7.

Sorry folks if this is a long post.
Tesco today announced record profits again, obviously we know shareholders will get a whack of this. We hear so many tales of drivers on a pittance of a wage and having to work mega hours to make ends meet, what are the drivers rates for the likes of Tesco (other supermarkets) and are they as bad as the rest of the transport industry?

I am the union rep, I work for myself just curious whether drivers actually see anything of these huge profits in their wage

Ask your RO then… I’m a rep for unite and we get given all rates for local sites as part of the negs etc

our Union rep is a skiving, workshy SOB, he hasn't worked a day in years and spends his entire time devising new ways to get paid for doing f**k all. While everyone else is out working for a living. The only person he has helped is a young a**hole with the same work ethic. He's done sweet FA for the drivers in the company, just like the rest of Unite.

Even though the tachograph gives you a 15 minute warning, start thinking about your driving break from the 3 hour 30 mark, and take an opportunity if and when you can. If you're on multidrop, you will hit 6 hours work before 4.5 hours driving. Set your phone alarm for 5 1/2 hours after your start time, to give yourself thinking time.

We are looking for x1 class 1 driver to work on a full time basis on our United Utilities contract operating throughout the north west. The work is tankering various non hazardous liquids from there sites.

Working out of our Tarleton Depot situated between Southport and Preston.

Rates of pay

Central Power Services operate a fleet of rigid and artic vehicles with Palfinger lorry loader remote control cranes. CPS deliver and collect generators and tanks around the UK, and have a vacancy for a HGV driver at their Norton Canes depot.

Ideally the candidate will have experience of operating Palfinger remote control cranes or similar, and will also have the following qualifications:

HGV Class 1 & 2 licence.

CSCS or CPCS.
