POA, it's a tool for drivers who have all recorded breaks deducted to sit around waiting, whilst getting paid and not unnecessarily racking up wtd working time. POA never ever have I used it ,I believe A your working or B your at rest. POA appeared when the 48 rules appeared to get round that rule POA suddenly came about to keep drivers working ungodly hours. If he's being carried in the vehicle to drive it if it becomes necessary as part of his duties, then even if there's no intention to drive it he's classed as a driver for the EU regulations so must insert his card. On a 70 hr week a £13ph job will earn you over 47k. Couple that with £25 night out money that’s another 5k plus £10 per meal allowance that’s another 2k, plus any other extras. That’s 53 k a year.
