you can’t opt out of WTD as a mobile worker and yet you can extend your working week beyond 48hrs but you are correct which I wasn’t aware of but not on average over the 17 or 26 week reference period. Your driving ands its your licence.. you take your breaks when you want to take them, not when they tell you to....

Firms can’t opt out. I'm sure they can, according to the govt site. other workers can opt out of WTD but we’re governed by RTD rules with no opt out.. so until the government change the law we’re stuck with 60 hour max and 48 hour average. 60 hours max with all breaks & poa taken off..

Look to see if you’ve got a Co-op/GXO depot near you, they take new passes and pay £44k. Good way to gain experience quickly.

There is nothing to say about a driver not being planned for a 15 hour shift or a 10 hour drive but the planner/TM must be aware they have a duty of care to that drivers wellbeing 🤷 A good planner/TM will try and give notice so the driver can prepare but nothing in the legislation to say they have ...
