Re: Please how easy to get jobs as a newly qualify TM either inter or external? Thanks!
As an internal TM, you've not much chance of a start. You could take on a couple of owner operators as an ETM, but the problem is you've no experience of what to do as the course doesn't/exams don't really teach you how to do the role. As a ETM and being green, you are prone to being used and ...

If the vehicle is under 25 years old and over 7.5T then a tachograph must be used at all times.
The vehicles used has nothing to do with it!
The only way round the situation is if you could get the horsebox classified as a motorhome, as motorhomes over 7.5T do not need to use a tachograph.

You either get your current TM qualified, or you employ a ETM, it's that's simple.
It doesn't matter how many years they've been in a transport management role, if they have got TM CPC, they aren't allowed on an O licence!

What's the induction procedure and is a driver assessment carried out on the initial start and maybe yearly?
Was training given after the first incident?
I suspect there maybe holes in the company's policies and procedures, so I'd dig a little deeper if the above don't or didn't happen!

Re: Question: I've been working for a small warehouse company all month, driving a truck they've just bought,
tbh thx for ya help, but, you're answering a different question from the one I asked. 'Not my problem' has never been my approach. Furthermore, this could well become a problem for me if you're wrong. I'm not convinced. I like this company, and am prepared to help them any way I can. If they ...

Re: Question: I've been working for a small warehouse company all month, driving a truck they've just bought,
I would have thought it would invalidate insurance, if it's because the vehicle is not actually approved/registered/whatever, and the consequences of that might be of great concern to me, as the driver. Like, might the vehicle just be stopped and impounded and I'm left to make my own way ...

Re: Question: I've been working for a small warehouse company all month, driving a truck they've just bought,
it is in some places and a lot of the Apps for daily walk rounds have it included.
If there was no O licence I the window, I would be checking that it is insured.

Exactly. If it had bald tyres, they'd expect me to refuse to drive it. This not the same?

Does a missing OL disc affect roadworthiness?
No it doesn't?

It isn't usually part of a daily walk around check, but "best practice" is to incorporate certain items like an OL disc, but does the GTMR state you have to check the OL disc?
No, it's doesn't!

Some operators will continue to use self-employed drivers as a lot are just ignorant and don't understand the implications, but some are just arrogant and don't think it applies to them.

I can't comment on your current operator as they may be a doddle to look after and the rate you are charging, maybe is sufficient for you, but in most cases, you'd be undercharging!
