I think this has always been the law, vehicles over 30cwt have to have sidelights on after dark. A layby is still part of the carraigeway unless it has a P sign in which case you are ok. Just hardly ever enforced up to now. any vehicle needs sidelights on roads with a speed limit exceeding 30mph too

Re: Thoughts on overspeed. The law says we can do 60mph on motorways when going downhill and your tacho is set to 90kmh
Construction and use is a bollocks argument. The vehicle is CONSTRUCTED to limit POWER from the engine to the wheels (layman term, don't shoot me down with intricate knowledge) They are ALSO CONSTRUCTED to ROLL under their own weight downhill up to the SPEED LIMIT when on eco roll (or to your prefer...

leave off. Are you working. No. You are on break!! I am a night driver. And scroll through social media. It’s break. I’m not working. im not saying you can't. I'm just saying of your employer can argue it's affecting your work then.... A rest, absolutely you can. But a break there's no requirement ...

on what planet is scrolling on social media not recuperation? Do you get paid to be on social media. Are you working? Is it part of your job to be on social media. 🙄 for example if you're a night driver, scrolling through social media won't recuperate your eyes. Which suffer when driving nights lea...

Only on a rest, do you need to be able to dispose of your time freely. A break, however, must be used entirely for recuperation. Depending on your outlook, scrolling on social media etc might not be considered recuperation. Talking on the phone to a loved one, however, might be. on what planet is s...

so in theory I couldn’t sit and do the crossword? depends how the authorities would see if it was recuperation or not. I'd love to see a driver being taken to court for that though. So I think we all know the answer on practice, but I suggest it's one of those "if they really want to find some...

Re: Hypothetical question of the day Is this allowed? Or do I have to be away from the vehicle while on break? If caught
Incorrect. The only criteria for taking a break is that no work is undertaken. almost. The break must also be used exclusively for recuperation. So, arguably (and I am clutching at straws here) going to the gym or doing anything strenuous wouldn't count either. Nor would anything else mentally or p...

Are you allowed to leave the site to go to the shops, get food/drink etc.. or have access to onsite canteen or rest facilities, if yes then you can take a break and you can take it in the cab if you want, if not then no you can't take a break, this is covered on cpc courses so pay attention I know ...

If the sign was a triangle then you've done nothing wrong, it is just a warning sign. Also, however, the sign pertains to vehicle height, not necessarily the height of the bridge....

Also have to be careful, Just because a 5th wheel height might ...
