Just take what ever you can if your a new pass get experienced then you get the big money
Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
I’ve just got one after 5 months lol £11.50 and hour so don’t rush over but I’m going to do it for some experience but hopefully I can get more later on
Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
Experience is the key take the low ones and then once your experience has increased look for better payed ones (that sounds like a mmo tutorial)
Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
I’m on £11.29, but I’ll do it for a year to get the experience and move on

I only passed january and nearly instantly landed a job at 14.8ph which is not bad but still get messages from agencies around my area paying 16ph offering 4 days a week. Id recommend signing up to as many agencies as you can, or try to find friends in companies that can recommend you

Only worry with agency is I’ve not driven since my test in February
Imagine agencies don’t give any training or show how to use taco properly etc

yeah in my case I didn’t drive 2 weeks so not bad, they only asked me to go to a local school and do an assessment which costed 75 quid, training I didn’t receive only a quick show around the truck but most things I learnt from experience and YouTube as it goes, pretty happy with this job I get atleast 5 days a week and job is piss easy.bootLink wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 1:30 pmhanded out a few cvs to friends in workcrayalix10 wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 1:30 pm I only passed january and nearly instantly landed a job at 14.8ph which is not bad but still get messages from agencies around my area paying 16ph offering 4 days a week. But even being under 25 and no experience still managed to get a job so jobs are definitely out there, if you are not desperate you can always wait till summer or after when more jobs pick up

it's a busy depot and usually a high turnover rate of drivers in the supermarket depots so one to keep an eye out for
No idea if any of these are local at all either

The best option is to get your experience and also maybe your ADR to open up your opinions in a few years time.

Guys don't accept less than £17 , You drive 44 tons and have a great responsibility, the less you accept the more this industry will decline , and you better earn more in warehouse than to accept to drive for £10-£15
Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
so what can you bring to the industry to expect £17 an hour. Yes I know they're out there but far and very few betweenalanNotice wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 1:57 pm Guys don't accept less than £17 , You drive 44 tons and have a great responsibility, the less you accept the more this industry will decline , and you better earn more in warehouse than to accept to drive for £10-£15

Unfortunately all the new drivers were lied to. The rates in the industry have plummeted and insurers are rarely willing to insure new drivers any more.
I was made redundant 2 weeks ago and still out of work now, been offered several runs here and there but for less money than a kid taking orders at McDonald’s. I’d rather not bother for now. Stick at it though hopefully the rates will start to increase eventually when they realise they need the workforce.

better you try with agencies, and I know is very stressful but you will found something , the thing is ,I think is because they changed the rules , now everyone can get class 1 without to get first class 2 , when you do class 2 first you have time to get a little bit experience ,and that s why all insurers get very expensive , something is when you do class 2 first and something is when you get class 1 without to much experiencefindMon wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 2:10 pm Unfortunately all the new drivers were lied to. that is why agencies mate, a fair few of them, but they are just using drivers for the crap shifts they need covering and paying peanuts because they can atm. I have a fair few years under my belt and refuse to work for a wage that is just bluntly taking the mick.alanNotice wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 2:11 pmbetter you try with agencies, and I know is very stressful but you will found something , the thing is ,I think is because they changed the rules , now everyone can get class 1 without to get first class 2 , when you do class 2 first you have time to get a little bit experience ,and that s why all insurers get very expensive , something is when you do class 2 first and something is when you get class 1 without to much experiencefindMon wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 2:10 pm Unfortunately all the new drivers were lied to. never been the best paid job for what you have to learn and do when you see an advert of a smiling faced driver ready to start there shift it makes me laugh. It's not all about driving a flash wagon. Think very carefully before you spend out all that money. It's a good job for some. ‼‼‼findMon wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 2:10 pm Unfortunately all the new drivers were lied to. I agree for what it costs for your licences and things you have to learn that comes with years of experience, The pay is embarrassing. Only way to earn a decent screw is sacrificing your home life and putting in the hours.woodiner30 wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 2:12 pmnever been the best paid job for what you have to learn and do when you see an advert of a smiling faced driver ready to start there shift it makes me laugh. Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
I took a job on £13 on tankers 4 on 4 off. Only doing 10-11 hour days due to no work. Found a farm willing to take me on and it’s great £16 a hour. All about getting that experience in first hand.
Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
I've 24 years experience and went from supermarket work doing 5 and 6 night shifts each week. Yes I was on about 58k but now do 4on4 off tramping 170 to 200 per day 25 night out so around 35k but I love the workload balance and as a tiny bonus I've a top spec truck. This job suits me and my family at this time.

£3,000 spent, I now think this was wasted.
Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
I like how contained work is less too just because there is no manual handling. You know how tiring it is getting in n out of a truck... even to get a pen that don't work to have to climb back in again...
Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
Ya don’t see joiners and sparkies getting decent money in their apprenticeship. Get a few years experience under ya belt and build value on the cv
Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
Passed 2 weeks ago and just got a job on class 1 day shift not brilliant money at 35k but experience is priceless i have been driving coaches for last 3 years so they went on that experience

Look to see if you’ve got a Co-op/GXO depot near you, they take new passes and pay £44k. Good way to gain experience quickly.
Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
Iam not fussy about pay i just want a job driving any class iam doing security at the moment on 4 nights 3 off take home 1,650 a month so crap pay dont bother me
Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
It will almost always start off on lower pay until you've got the experience. A small bit of research before starting your journey would have identified that.
You have to ideally usually start off at the bottom and work ya experience up, once you've 12 months ish, companies / insurance start to trust these drivers more, so it's easier to move to better paid jobs

Re: Afternoon, well seems near enough impossible get a job on half decent money starting to wish I’d not bothered.
It is not a get rich quick scheme. I had to work at least 2 years before getting a decent live on wage. Need the experience first.
