Fleet Manager

Bristol - Hybrid

Gregory Distribution is pleased to advertise a rare and exciting opportunity to join our Shared User Business area as Fleet Manager.

The position of Fleet Manager involves:

You will be a key member of the Shared User operational team, reporting directly to the Head of Transport Planning and Fleet Support.
Analyse the R&M spend and look to drive cost savings across all business area cost centres.
Analyse and manage fleet damage with a view to reduce costs in conjunction with Operational Managers.
Business area responsibility for optimisation of trucks and trailers during their lifecycle by:
Managing the average mileage of trucks by working closely with operations to identify higher mileage trucks and organising movements to lower mileage operations and vice versa.
Responsibility for identifying opportunities in the area to relocate vehicles and trailers no longer required by a particular operation.
Leading operational teams to support any refurbishment and modification programmes liaising with the central fleet function and ensuring fleet is made available as required.
Manage the areas requirement in line with seasonal fluctuations in customer volumes.
Work closely with other members of the Group’s fleet team in terms of optimising the fleet and minimising total cost of ownership.
Working closely with Operational Managers across the Business Area.
Essential Skills:

Proven, demonstrable experience in a similar senior role, ideally as a Manager within a Fleet Department within a similar haulage/logistics business.
Demonstrable technical knowledge of trucks/trailers gained in similar environment.
Experience of negotiation and cost control with suppliers in a commercial environment.
An effective leader and influencer.
Communications skills for stakeholder engagement and experience with liaising and influencing at all levels.
Experience of managing budgets.
Excellent IT skills to include MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Desirable Skills:

Previous experience of managing a small team would be advantageous.

Salary for Fleet Optimisation Manager is between £50,000pa to £55,000pa, depending on experience. Hours of work are Monday – Friday 08:30hrs – 17:00hrs.
