Hiscox, Simply Business all of them referred me to Ghalager who said can't do it either. What is so wrong with ETMs you can't insure it.

Paying for the insurance and being covered in the event of a claim are not necessarily the same thing. I've been led to believe by other people that SB's transport consultant doesn't cut the mustard when stuff hits the fan

You will be insured as a transport consultant and that is a totally different role to an ETM.
I had this discussion with SB, Hiscoxs and many more, three years ago, and they said they only cover consultancy.
That is why I'm with RHA Insurance Services.

I emailed them about their "Xerxes" branded TruTac system (which I am very keen on). I got a nice, clear response via email within 24 hours, answering all my questions, and all without being an RHA member.
I suspect not all of their staff have the same idea of customer service, that is, assuming they DO have their own staff and aren't simply farming work out to third-party "facilitators", as seems to happen quite often these days (banking, for example).

And that differs from car insurance... how?
Being untruthful in ANY insurance quotation renders you uninsured, which generally is only discovered at the point you actually need it, in which case you will bitterly regret being untruthful.
Just ask anyone who has ever wrongly answered "no" to those two, all important, motor insurance questions on every single policy ever:
1) have you been involved in any accident, regardless of blame, in the past five years?
2) have you ever been refused insurance or had an insurance policy cancelled?

Hi Karense, respectfully, this isn't the case. Professional Indemnity Insurance needs to be arranged by a specialist which is why you would be unable to obtain a quotation on go compare/compare the market etc as you would a simple car insurance. I can absolutely assure you, no Broker at RHA Insurance would be reading from any form of script and 90% of the ETM's that approach us for assistance, are insured on the completely wrong basis. I did not say I expected to get a quote on "Go Compare" Do try to read posts more attentively and then you would not misrepresent potential customers.
I said (or at least intimated) that if a website can be sufficiently "specialist" to quote my business motoring needs then I would expect someone to be capable of creating a "specialist" web interface to manage the task of quoting accurately for PL & PI too.
You have not identified yourself as being associated with RHA but I will conclude that to be true as you are quoting their phone number.
As for it not being a "script", to paraphrase Mandy Rice-Davies "Well you would say that, wouldn't you?" (You may need to Google that, I suspect it is well before your time).
And, I've been around on this earth far too long to be "assured", absolutely or partially, by someone who has something to sell me. I was brought up in God's Country (Yorkshire) with its inherent financial acumen, or to quote the oft repeated words of my late father which have never steered me wrong: Caveat emptor!
That said, I am prepared, at some point, to put myself through the process of dealing with one of your associates, and if it does turn out to be the script I am imagining, I will no doubt treat your associate to some no-nonsense northern straight-talking.

Just a word of warning- lots of ETMs don’t have the correct insurance they will have insured you as a transport consultant not as an external transport manager - check your policies

When there is so little outlay to being an ETM, it’s foolish to skimp on one of the very few costs. In such a small insurance market, go for the best in terms of cover for when the poo hits the fan and that does seem to be RHA.
Agree that some will give cover but they fail if you ask the most basic Qs on what the risks are that ETM has.
