I like how it says "Shared use of a well equipped vehicle (depending on length of service)" 🤣, basically the new boy gets a 15 year old Daf that's been to the moon and back with dubious stains on the mattress 🤣

That pay is rubbish for a class 1, also how do you expect a newly qualified driver to get a job, for which they have gone through tests practical and theory wise that they have trained for. The going rate is around £35,000 upwards, without nights out and early starts.

I was working here thinking it's not the highest paying, but it should be pretty easy going job! While I was sadly wrong They ripped the piss out of it. The trailer they give you to are a total disgrace. And Vosa should be looking in to this company

They also take night out money off you! Randomly or force you back to the yard so they don't have to pay night out money

That’s why I don’t work for any of the Lockerbie based companies. I travel down to Carlisle where the wages are considerably better for roughly the same job.

it’s just the way it is up here! As much as it’s not good, it’s not quite as bad as it looks. Our cost of living is generally much cheaper up here than say Derbyshire, but even so, it’s still shyte money!
Basically the going rate that I know of north of the border, outside of the central belt, is generally £11 to £13 approximately. Obviously there are companies that pay more, but that’s the ball park that I’ve heard of.
A lot of the companies rely on bumping up the wages by offering bonuses, meal allowances etc.

pity there isn’t a driver shortage because if there was you would soon see that money going up to attract the men in . Those that kept it low would struggle

Oh my...
I am 4/4 days super easy work and at least 10k more
I guess someone without experience might take this for a very short period or someone who is desperate to pay the bills which is the right thing to do..
I guess will be impossible to find a experienced driver for medium/long term.

As much as many take the piss out of the wage offered many people still have to put good on the table and bills to pay .. so at the end of the day it's experience for drivers and keeping a roof over peoples heads a foot in the door and stops em from claiming the dole ...

A lot of it depends on location and how many drivers are chasing one job vacancy. If you live in a mud hut, then it’s probably ok with the overtime and night out money.
If you live in London, then it won’t even pay the rent.
