Overview
Transport Operations Supervisor, Mon-Fr 07.00-17.00

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Transport Operations Supervisor to join this national distributor of products for the construction industry. In this role you will be supporting the Operations Manager, taking responsibility for the operations team in their absence and managing a small team of Drivers and yard staff.

The role
Supporting with the site health and safety, logistics, order fulfilment and business procedures.
Driving operational excellence to achieve continuous improvement in standards of customer service and the delivery of materials is made at the most effective cost to serve the customers.
Supervising the operations team (FLT Drivers and LGV Drivers) motivating, coaching, and developing the team to maintain the safe and efficient working environment.
Ensuring a safety first environment to ensure both customers and staff are free from accidents
Route planning ensuring the most cost effective routes are used to best meet the customer requirements
Ensuring transport legal compliance is maintained and that all the drivers work correct hours and breaks as per legislation
Making sure all vehicles and equipment on site is maintained to ensure fit for purpose

Experience required
Some supervisory experience in a transport / logistics environment
Experience of managing and motivating a team
Experience of planning, organise and prioritising workloads
Knowledge and experience of route planning / delivery scheduling
Knowledge of transport legislation and experience of working with drivers
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and practice
Good interpersonal and influencing skills

Full valid UK Driving licence essential
